Can I WIN my club champs?
No, I can't.
But you can't knock me for giving this blog a catchy title.
I'm trying to be like those Youtubers who have these fancy thumbnails, catchy titles, and then when you click on the video its just a normal, run of the mill course vlog (I'm looking at you GM Golf).
Anyway, this weekend I have my club champs. I'm still not entirely sure if I'm playing in the A or B division. My current handicap is 8,3 so I'm like borderline in the middle.
If I'm playing in the B division, watch out I'm coming for the title. However, more than likely I'll be in the A division. Where I could finish at the bottom. But, I am going to try my best.
This will be only my second or third competitive round of golf since I picked up the sport in 2021. So I'm sort of approaching this competition with a 'let's see what can happen' sort of attitude.
I played 9 holes at a local course two days ago and shot 40 with a strong tee game. My irons were really slacking however.
Yesterday I was at the range and just tweaked a few things.
I plan on working on some short game today and tomorrow.
I also plan on playing a practice round on Friday, the day before club champs. Just a 9 hole practice round to get into the flow of things. Get a feel for what the pace of the greens are going to be like and to get some good vibes on tee shots.
I am definitely a confidence player and if I can practice some tricky tee shots and get my confidence up before the tournament, that would be a big boost for me. Just to harbor that feeling of 'I know I can do this."
Some small goals that I have for my club champs:
1) To go through all my internal processes over every shot. Practice swings, alignment, choosing good targets, right mindset.
2) Only 1 double bogey per round (2 double bogeys for the entire tournament)
3) Be aggressive off the tee, and conservative approaching the greens
4) No lost ball off the tee
5) Have fun
I also plan on writing a blog after round 1 as well as after round 2. Just so that I can reflect on my rounds. I definitely feel that when I write about golf, I become more mindful of what I am actually doing. Instead of just going with flow and doing the same things every day.
